In collaboration with:
Matamata-Piako District Council
The populations of New Zealand’s towns are growing and becoming increasingly urbanised. In response, MPDC is developing a new way to engage with communities to prepare for these changes.
Their new programme, called Pride of Place (‘POP’) will enable community voices to shape the future of their town centre, by uncovering aspirations, and articulating them in a Placemaking and Tactical Urbanism Strategy and Action Plan. Each step of developing and implementing POP shares the aim of building trust capital between the community and council that extends beyond the programme.
Place Creative leads information gathering, strategic support and advice for the MPDC project team, workshop design, monitoring and evaluation design, and plan writing.
