In collaboration with:
Auckland Council, Angus Muir Design + Brogen Averill
Lead by Liz Allen whilst a member of Auckland Council’s Auckland Design office, Pā Rongorongo was created in partnership with Council's Māori design team as a new approach to sharing information about changes that are occurring across Auckland’s City Centre and celebrating the people who live, work and play there.
Pā Rongorongo facilitated a broad range of collaborations, community building exercises, educational workshops, artistic practices, and conversations about the city centre. Many of the events and conversations anchored by Pā Rongorongo were fully initiated by community groups and members of the public such and included free haircuts for rough sleepers, free food initiatives, and a volunteer programme supporting the Griffith's Gardens Community Fridge.
Pā Rongorongo was also a place to celebrate and showcase the unique voices of indigenous artists, activists and community groups through an artist in residence programme.
