Pancake Parklet

In collaboration with:

Auckland Council, Auckland Transport

The Pancake parklet is a direct response to the pedestrian pinch point created on Lorne Street by a combination of a narrow footpath and a hugely popular Korean Pancake shop.

The final parklet was delivered through a staged approach. A one day trial was done on PARKing day 2016 which enabled the team to get feedback from neighbouring businesses and parklet users and to observe how it functioned via a mini public life survey.

The observations and feedback received through this trial was then fed into the design brief, documentation for the parking resolution process and gave us clear mandate from the neighbourhood to proceed.

Liz Allen facilitated this project while working at the Auckland Design office. Parklet design by Den Aitken.
