This week we were getting ready to announce our second annual Non-Instagrammable Urbanism talk, where a series of speakers each present two of their best wins and two of their favourite fails in tactical urbanism. Delivering Innovating Streets For People, the tactical urbanism programme that took place across the country this last year, we met other practitioners learning right throughout their projects, so we recruited five of them to be this year’s speakers: Tau Lelaulu from MAU Studio, traffic engineer Amit Patel of PTM Consultants, Bea Enriquez from Sports Waitakere, Jena Western of AT, and Place Creative’s own Charlotte Billing.
However, with the rapid return to level 4 lockdown, we thought that while we wait to hear from these experts, we’d share some reflections on a few of our own wins and fails from Place Creative projects this year. Crisis vs. opportunity, anyone?
First up, Waitematā Regenerative Urban Farm Feasibility Study + Low Carbon Diets Programme (aka WRUFFS, for short.)
